The company was founded in 1955 by a group of British cable manufacturers as African Telephone Cables. Its factory and head office based in Brits, north of Johannesburg, South Africa, was established in 1973. CBI Electric: Aberdare ATC Telecom Cables (Pty) Ltd (Previously known as ATC) installed the first optical fibre cable plant in Africa in 1982 and established the first optical fibre plant in the Southern Hemisphere in 1984.
CBI Electric: Aberdare ATC Telecom Cables (Pty) Ltd’ (ATC) offer to acquire the assets of Aberdare’s telecom cable business in exchange for half the shares in a new company to be named "CBI-Electric: Aberdare ATC Telecom Cables (Pty) Ltd" was successful. The new entity is a 50/50 joint venture between Reunert and the Altron Group.

Ltd has been manufacturing cable since 1988. Lambda offers a variety of Lambda’s world class manufacturing plant is conveniently situated just outside South Africa’s capital city, Pretoria, in one of the main industrial hubs, Rosslyn. Currently the plant occupies 12,000m² of factory space and has ample space for future growth opportunities. In Lambda’s commitment to it’s local and particularly it’s export customers, Lambda has aligned itself with two quality institutions; Delta Electronics in Demark from where it proudly displays its EC Verification status on it’s Data cable, and the South Africa Bureau of Standards from where it retains it’s ISO 9001 certification. Lambda also retains a relationship with Underwriters Laboratory (UL). |
